Description

The 2007 SMU Business Study Mission to Silicon Valley comprised a week of intensive classroom sessions followed by a 10-day visit to California that featured networking sessions, company visits and cultural activities. Students were divided into Project Groups and contributed to the preparation of discussion material for classroom sessions, and produced a final project based on field observations and independent research.

The BSM helped us get deeper insights into management, entrepreneurship and innovation in Silicon Valley and the broader San Francisco Bay Area. Before our visit to the Valley, we studied about the region’s long history of boom-and-bust cycles, its unique business ecosystem, and the dense network of legal, financial, and social institutions that support it.
